The Good-Faith City Dynamic
The good-faith city dynamic is genuine activity, activity that happens for the sake of the people who call the city home. The loyalties of the people behind the good-faith dynamic are with family and community. The loyalties of entities and organizations behind the good faith dynamic are with the city, its residents, and institutions.
Activity that seeks to latch on and profit from the Good Faith City Dynamic is extractive in nature. It's the force behind gentrification, activity by organizations whose loyalties lie with the profit motive. These dynamics don't happen for the sake of city and people, but for the sake of a bottom line. When push comes to shove, actors uncommitted to city and people disappear, because they were not there to support the good-faith dynamic in the first place. Business is abandoned in detriment of city. The attitude is: "Delivering value here cannot be done in enoughly extractive manner". They are dynamics that serve themselves off the environs, not dynamics that serve their environs. Human dynamics become rarefied when they stop serving the people around them, the people involved in-the-flesh.
